Inventory Planner — The Walking Dead Online 3
The inventory planner helps you optimize loadouts for The Walking Dead Online 3's 20-slot base inventory (30 with backpack). Plan weapon, armor, medical, and ammo slot allocation before loot runs to National Guard encampments, Military Base, and helicopter crashes — avoiding the death bag that comes from poor inventory decisions.
Why Plan Inventory?
Every slot in TWD Online 3 matters. Base inventory is 20 slots — weapons, plate carrier (+50 HP), backpack (+10 slots when equipped), ammo stacks, medical supplies, and extraction loot all compete for space. Players who grab everything die carrying B-tier junk when they find an AK-47 at a National Guard encampment. Planning before you leave Woodbury prevents costly mid-run drops.
Standard Loadout Templates
| Loadout Type | Slots Used | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Starter (20 slots) | Weapon(1) + Melee(1) + Meds(3) + Misc(15) | Woodbury farming |
| PvP Military (30 slots) | Primary(1) + Sidearm(1) + Melee(1) + Plate(1) + Backpack(1) + Ammo(6) + Meds(5) + Loot(14) | National Guard/Military Base |
| Heli Crash (30 slots) | M24(1) + AK(1) + Melee(1) + Plate(1) + Backpack(1) + Ammo(5) + Meds(5) + Empty(15) | Crash response PvP |
| Medic Squad (30 slots) | Weapon(1) + Melee(1) + Plate(1) + Backpack(1) + Meds(12) + Ammo(4) + Loot(10) | Group support role |
Slot Priority Rules
Priority order when inventory is full: drop lowest-tier items first. Never drop plate carrier or primary weapon for common supplies. Drop duplicate meds before ammo. Drop extraction loot only if upgrading to a higher-tier weapon. Full management strategy in inventory management guide.
Essential Slot Allocation
- 1 slot — Primary weapon (AK-47, ACR, M24 depending on route).
- 1 slot — Melee for silent walker headshots.
- 1 slot — Plate carrier (+50 HP) before any PvP zone.
- 1 slot — Backpack (+10 capacity) before long routes.
- 4-6 slots — Ammo scaled to route length and weapon type.
- 3-5 slots — Meds minimum for military POIs.
- Remaining — Extraction loot high-value items only.
Pre-plan on paper or mentally before spawning. Open inventory (G on PC) only in cover — you are vulnerable while sorting.
Gear Integration
Backpack and plate carrier are gear items that occupy slots when carried but provide passive benefits when equipped. Equip both before leaving safe zones. See gear guide and gear tier list for acquisition locations. Without backpack, you have only ~15 usable slots after equipping weapon, melee, and armor.
Route-Specific Planning
Match loadout to your planned loot route. Woodbury loop: light load, room for varied pickups. National Guard circuit: heavy ammo and meds, moderate extraction space. Helicopter crash: max combat readiness, empty slots for crash loot after winning PvP. Use the loot route tool alongside this planner.
Inventory is 20 base slots. Backpack adds +10 for 30 total. Plan accordingly — the difference between 20 and 30 slots determines whether you extract an M24 or leave it behind.
Common Inventory Mistakes
Hoarding low-tier meds when A-tier is available. Carrying two rifles without ammo for both. No empty slots before entering helicopter crash zones. Sorting inventory in open fields at Military Base. Dropping plate carrier for supply loot. Avoid these and your extraction rate improves dramatically.
Developer TWD Online may adjust inventory size during Early Access — check update log after patches. Game at Roblox ID 128039018996175.
Advanced Loadout Scenarios
Specialized loadouts for specific scenarios: crash response (empty 15 slots, max combat gear), medic squad (12 med slots, minimal ammo), solo Woodbury (15 free slots for varied pickup), and PvP hunting (6 ammo slots, 5 med slots, plate carrier mandatory). Adjust templates based on your playstyle and squad role assignments from the group creation guide.
Inventory Planning Workflow
Recommended workflow: plan loadout on inventory planner before launching Roblox, spawn and verify gear matches plan, execute planned loot route, mid-run adjust drops per priority rules, extract when trigger conditions met. This disciplined loop transforms random looting into consistent progression through Early Access content.
